RUESSELSHEIM, Germany, Jan 9 (Reuters) - There is a good chance that carmaker Opel (GM.N) will get government aid if it meets conditions that have been set, Franz Muentefering, chairman of Germany's Social Democrats (SPD), said on Friday.

"It is to be expected that the guarantee request has good prospects if certain conditions are fulfilled," Muentefering said at a party event in Ruesselsheim, where Opel has a major plant.

The SPD shares power with Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives.
