India's May car sales rise 14 pct vs year ago

NEW DELHI, June 10 (Reuters) - Car sales in India rose 14.3 percent in May to 110,743 units from 96,923 in the same month a year earlier, an industry body said on Tuesday.

Sales of commercial vehicles -- trucks and buses -- stood at 35,294 units in May, up 6 percent percent from 33,262, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement. (Reporting by Devidutta Tripathy; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
