** Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) unveiled a $12.6 billion deal to buy Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), and posted better-than-expected quarterly results. [nN13363658] [nN13370273]

** Finmeccanica SpA (SIFI.MI: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) has agreed to buy U.S. military contractor DRS Technologies Inc (DRS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) in a $5.2 billion deal, the biggest so far in European defence contractors' bid for a slice of the growing U.S. defence market. ** The parties in the dispute over financing the $20 billion Clear Channel Communications Inc (CCU.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) buyout on Tuesday reached an agreement in principle on settling the case and striking a new deal at a lower price of $36 a share, a source familiar with the situation said.
