NutriSystem to sell its weight-loss product at Wal-Mart

* Says to sell 14-day weight-loss program at $148

* Shares up 22 percent after the bell

Oct 5 (Reuters) - Fitness-products company NutriSystem Inc (NTRI.O) said it would start selling its Nutrisystem 14-Day starter weight loss program on Wal-Mart Stores Inc's (WMT.N) shelves from the first week of October, sending its shares up 22 percent after the bell.

The program consists of 14 days of Nutrisystem menu, free shipping, access to weight-loss counseling and free membership in Nutrisystem's online community, and is priced at $148, the company said in a statement.

The program will start rolling out nationwide at over 3,200 Wal-Mart locations and will be available on Walmart.com, NutriSystem added.

Shares of the NutriSystem were trading up $3.35 at $18.40 in trading after the bell. They had closed at $15.05 Monday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Abhishek Takle in Bangalore; Editing by Pradeep Kurup)
