PARIS, Sept 1 (Reuters) - French financier Vincent Bollore said on Monday his group was going ahead with plans to build an electric car with Pininfarina (PNNI.MI) despite the death of the Italian partner's chief executive.

"Everything is going ahead as planned," he told a news conference.

Bollore formed a joint venture with Pininfarina last year to build the car.

At 1226 GMT, Pininfarina shares were up 3.68 percent at 6.79 euros in Milan.

Pininfarina's chairman and chief executive, Andrea Pininfarina, was overseeing the car project which lay at the heart of a restructuring of the designer and contract manufacturer until his death on Aug. 7 in a traffic accident.

His brother, Paolo, confirmed last month the company was sticking to its restructuring plans after he was chosen by the board to replace Andrea.

Another element of the plan will see the founding family of the same name reduce its stake to about 30 percent from 55 percent via a capital increase that will allow a select group of investors like Bollore to become shareholders.

The family wants to raise 100 million euros to finance the development of the car, whose electric batteries will be supplied by Bollore's group.

"We are in the condition to produce at industrial levels," Bollore said of the car at the news conference.

A Bollore group executive also told the reporters the order book for the car would open next summer. (Reporting by Matthieu Protard; Writing by Gilles Castonguay; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
