Israel's Strauss in talks to buy Tami4 water firm

TEL AVIV, July 5 (Reuters) - Israeli food company Strauss Group (STRS.TA) said on Sunday it was in talks to acquire Tana Industries, which owns Tami4, a maker of purifier systems for drinking water in homes and offices.

Strauss said the acquisition would be made through a subsidiary in the field of water.

"If an agreement is signed, an announcement will be made," Strauss said in a statement.

According to Israeli newspapers, the deal would be worth $80 million to $100 million.

Tana is held by several investors, the largest of which is the FIMI mezzanine fund, which owns 41 percent.

Tana makes bars of hot and cold water, which are filtered and purified, as well as coolers and sub-sink systems. (Reporting by Tova Cohen; Editing by Jerry Norton)
