Beiersdorf CEO says crisis won't hurt demand-paper
FRANKFURT, Dec 30 (Reuters) - Beiersdorf's (BEIG.DE) business will not be hurt by the global economic crisis as there is still demand for its products, Chief Executive Thomas Quaas told German weekly Die Zeit.
"We can be 100 percent sure that people will take care of their personal hygiene on a daily basis even in difficult times," Quaas told the newspaper in an interview to be published on Wednesday.
The company still expected to have posted about 8 percent organic growth in the full year 2008, more than the global market's 2-3 percent growth.
"Our global brands Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie have developed fantastically," Quaas said.
While he again held off giving a specific outlook for 2009, he said the company aimed to grow faster than the market.
And if the company saw the opportunity to make an acquisition, it would have the financial means to do so, he said.
"It's not every day that a major acquisition crosses my path, but if it does, I want to be able to go for it." (Reporting by Maria Sheahan; Editing by David Cowell)
