The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 57.23 points, or 0.50 percent, at 11,475.73, while the Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX declined 7.70 points, or 0.60 percent, at 1,278.13. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was down 9.99 points, or 0.41 percent, at 2,418.63.
