SEOUL, March 24 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Monday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

CHOSUN ILBO

A South Korean consortium, including companies such as Daewoo International Corp (047050.KS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), won a $184 million project to develop a nickel mine in Madagascar, Korea Resources Corp said on Sunday.

The Seoul government will ask the central government to include dogs in the legal definition of livestock, making the slaughter and butchery of the animal considered a local delicacy to be subject to stricter regulations, a local official said.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

Hyundai Motor Co (005380.KS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) will launch production of a hybrid version of one of its automobile models beginning next year, said company Chairman Chung Mong-koo.

DONG-A ILBO

South Korea has won two-thirds of the world's ship building orders for January and February of this year, according to a report from Clarksons, a company that provides analyses on the shipping industry.
