CS places 6 pct stake in Kia at discount - report

SEOUL, April 11 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse has placed 20 million shares, a stake of about six percent, in South Korean car maker Kia Motors (000270.KS) at a 4 percent discount to Thursday's closing price, a report said.

Information provider Thomson Financial said in a release dated Thursday that the shares were sold at 10,464 won ($10.73) each, a four percent discount to Thursday's closing price.

No details were available on who bought the shares.

Earlier on Friday traders reported South Korean fund manager Mirae Asset Group had bought the shares in a block deal.

Mirae was not available to comment.

Kia declined to comment.

By 0334 GMT Kia shares were up 9.63 percent to 11,950 won.
