SHANGHAI, March 7 (Reuters) - Top Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and its China partner FAW Group plan to invest 3.6 billion yuan ($507 million) to expand an existing manufacturing facility in northeast China, a state newspaper reported on Friday.

The expansion, scheduled for completion by 2013, would boost annual capacity of the plant in Changchun to 200,000 units from 10,000 units, the Shanghai Securities News said, citing unnamed sources in the city.

A Toyota spokeswoman in China said she could not confirm the report.

Toyota, which also makes cars in the southern city of Guangzhou, sold 499,000 vehicles in China last year, up 62 percent from a year earlier and beating its target of 480,000 units.

Its total vehicle production capacity in the country stood at 643,000 units. ($1=7.104 Yuan)¦ (Reporting by Fang Yan; Editing by Edmund Klamann)
