Nikkei up 0.3 pct led by exporters

TOKYO, July 31 (Reuters) - The Nikkei average rose 0.3 percent on Thursday, boosted by exporters such as Sony Corp (6758.T) on a softer yen and solid U.S. jobs data.

As of 0001 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei .N225 had added 42.61 points to 13,410.40, extending gains from the previous day.

The broader Topix rose 0.5 percent to 1,309.19. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
