U.S. grocer recalls potentially tainted chicken
NEW YORK, March 4 (Reuters) - Stop & Shop Supermarket Co said on Tuesday that it voluntarily recalled prepared chicken products because of potential Listeria contamination.
The grocery company, which operates 389 stores in the U.S. Northeast, said it was recalling breaded chicken cutlet, chicken marsala, grilled lemon chicken, and grilled teriyaki chicken.
Upon being notified by the supplier, Stop & Shop said it immediately removed all recalled products from sale. The company said has received no reports of illnesses associated with these products.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause flu-like symptoms and cab be very serious for pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems. (Reporting by Chris Reiter; Editing by Ben Tan)
