Borders cutting 20 pct of corporate positions

NEW YORK, June 3 (Reuters) - Borders Group Inc (BGP.N) said on Tuesday that as part of an expense reduction program, it is cutting roughly 20 percent of the company's corporate positions.

The No. 2 U.S bookseller said it is eliminating 156 corporate positions at its Ann Arbor, Michigan, headquarters. It is also eliminating 118 corporate postilions outside its headquarters, including corporate employees in distribution centers, the field marketing organization, and the corporate sales division.

Borders said the job cuts represent less than 1 percent of its total work force. (Reporting by Nicole Maestri, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
