(Adds details from results statement)
CAIRO, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Egypt's El Sewedy Cables, the largest Arab cable maker by market value, posted a 29 percent decline in 9-month net profit on Sunday on the back of lower prices for cables and copper rods.
The firm said in a statement that net income slipped to 549.8 million Egyptian pounds ($101 million), with revenues sliding 24 percent to 6.82 billion pounds led by a 43 percent drop in revenues from exports.
Revenues from sales in Egypt gained nearly 9 percent, the company said.
El Sewedy said total cable sales volume rose 14 percent to 94,821 tonnes in the period, while prices decreased 17 percent. Sales of copper rods grew 10 percent to 101,878 tonnes in the period, but prices dropped 31 percent. (Writing by Cynthia Johnston)
