UPDATE 1-StatoilHydro shuts Oseberg South field due storm
(Adds production, ownership details)
OSLO, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Stormy North Sea weather has forced StatoilHydro (STL.OL) to shut its 54,000-barrel per-day Oseberg South oilfield, the Norwegian energy group said on Friday, adding that it sought to restart production on Saturday.
StatoilHydro also reduced manning at platforms at four other North Sea fields but plans to continue production at Snorre, Huldra, Visund and Kvitebjoern.
"The worst of the storm is expected this afternoon and evening," spokesman Gisle Johanson said.
"We plan to return personnel to the platforms and restart production at Oseberg South tomorrow," added Johanson.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), Oseberg South is also expected to produce 0.8 billion standard cubic metres of natural gas in 2008.
StatoilHydro is the operator and holds 49.3 percent of the Oseberg South licence, with Norwegian state-owned Petoro holding 33.6 percent, French Total SA (TOTF.PA) 10 percent, U.S. Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) 4.7 percent and ConocoPhillips (COP.N) 2.4.
Total combined output at the four other affected fields, where much of the staff has been taken by helicopter to shore, amounts to roughly 225,000 barrels of oil per day and 9.75 billion cubic metres of gas in 2008, NPD figures show. (Reporting by Wojciech Moskwa; editing by James Jukwey)
