LONDON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - The chairman of BP Plc (BP.L) is in Mexico for an "important" meeting with President Felipe Calderon as the country considers opening up to foreign investment in its oil sector, BP's Chief Executive Tony Hayward said on Wednesday.

Calderon is seeking energy reform to address declining output and reserves. Mexico's constitution gives state oil company Pemex the sole right to extract Mexican oil.

Protesters have marched in Mexico to oppose what they see as plans to privatise the company. (Reporting by Tom Bergin; editing by Rory Channing)
