CAPE TOWN, Oct 8 (Reuters) - Nigeria is optimistic that the falling world oil price will stabilise and it expects to lift its production to 4 million barrels per day by 2010, the African nation's oil minister said on Wednesday.

"We in Nigeria remain optimistic that the oil price will stabilise," Nigerian Oil Minister Odein Ajumogobia said at the Africa Upstream 2008 oil conference in Cape Town. "Our ambition is to reach 4 million barrels per day by 2010."

Nigeria is one of Africa's largest oil producers, although its output has been hurt by a wave of militant attacks in its Niger Delta region. (Reporting by Paul Simao)
