Exxon says Sable Island offshore natgas field shut
NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) said Tuesday the production field at the Sable Offshore Energy Project in Nova Scotia was shut-in after an "operational incident," cutting off about 400 million cubic feet per day of gas production.
"The field is shut-in now. We were doing some maintenance and operating at less than normal in the last while. Work is underway to restore expected levels as soon as possible, but I can't speculate on when that will happen," said Exxon spokesman Merle MacIsaac.
According to the company's Website, the Sable Project is owned by Exxon, Shell (RDSa.L), Esso Imperial Oil (IMO.TO), Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGH.N) and Mosbacher Operating Ltd.
The project produces between 400 and 500 million cubic feet of natural gas and 20,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day. (Reporting by Eileen Moustakis; Editing by John Picinich)
