HOUSTON, May 11 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) was restarting units at its 135,000-barrel-per-day Los Angeles-area refinery in Wilmington, California, on Sunday after a brief electrical power outage, a company spokesman said.

"We had a short power outage this morning that caused a loss of power to several units at the refinery," said the spokesman, Bill Day. "Power has been restored and the units are coming back online. We don't expect a significant loss of production at this time."

Flaring at the refinery due to the power outage began at 6:55 a.m. PDT (1355 GMT) Sunday, according to a notice filed with the South Coast Air Quality Management District, which regulates air pollution in the Los Angeles area. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; editing by John Wallace)
