Valero says Houston refinery unit work till Feb 14

NEW YORK, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N) said Tuesday that maintenance work on an unspecified unit at its Houston, Texas, oil refinery will last until Thursday.

"Continuing today through Thursday, Feb. 14, Valero will be performing maintenance on one of the refinery units," an official of the Valero Houston refinery said in a recorded message on the CAER Hotline, a public information service.

"During this period there will be flaring visible ..." added the official in the message dated Tuesday, adding such flaring was used as a safety measure.

The official did not specify the unit or the nature of the work.

Company or refinery officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

The refinery has a total crude oil distillation capacity of about 90,000 barrels per day. (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by John Picinich)
