Thai stocks down nearly 3 pct on credit woes, unrest

BANGKOK, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Thailand's benchmark stock index .SETI fell nearly 3 percent on Tuesday, hit by a deepening global credit crisis plus renewed political unrest at home.

At 0304 GMT the benchmark SET index was at 535.33, down 2.98 percent, led by a 3 percent fall in top oil and gas firm PTT (PTT.BK). Bangkok Bank BBL.BK, the largest lender, was 4.1 percent lower. ($1=34.34 Baht) (Reporting by Arada Therdthammakun; Editing by Alan Raybould)
