Thai stocks seen falling on politics, banks in focus
BANGKOK, June 2 (Reuters) - Thai stocks are expected to edge down on Monday amid increasing concerns about domestic politics after a tense weekend street protest, analysts said.
An opposition group vowed to hold more of the street rallies that began in Bangkok a week ago to try to force the government of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej to step down. [ID:nBKK268711]
"Foreign investors are queuing up to sell shares as the political turbulence drags on," a dealer at BT Securities said, expecting support on the main index .SETI at 821 points and resistance at 838-840 points, he added.
On Friday, the benchmark SET index rose 0.37 percent to 833.65 points after energy stocks climbed when it became clear that an agreement by Thai refiners to cut diesel prices would not squeeze their earnings as much as feared.
