Indian shares fall nearly 4 pct on weak Asia
MUMBAI, Feb 6 (Reuters) - Indian shares fell nearly 4 percent within a minute of opening on Wednesday, led by losses in Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) as Asian markets dropped sharply on U.S. recession worries.
At 9:56 a.m. (0426 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was down 3.76 percent or 702.4 points at 17,960.72. It fell to a low of 17,936.01 in early deals.
The 50-issue NSE index was down 3.9 percent at 5,270.10. (Reporting by Hiral Vora; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
