MUMBAI, July 10 (Reuters) - Indian shares extended losses to more than 1 percent on Friday afternoon as concerns over the economy and poor monsoons weighed on investor sentiments.

Traders also said that the market fall was due to some hedge funds taking short positions.

At 3.03 p.m. (0934 GMT), the 30-share BSE Index was down 1.33 percent at 13,575.08 points, with 22 components falling.

The 50-share NSE Index was down 1.43 percent at 4,022.75 points.
