Indian shares extend gains to more than 3 pct

MUMBAI, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Indian shares extended gains to more than 3 percent on Thursday afternoon, as equity markets across the world were boosted by positive comments from the U.S. Federal Reserve about the world's largest economy.

At 2:43 p.m. (0913 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 3.1 percent at 15,481.36 points, with all stocks gaining.

The 50-share NSE index was up 3 percent at 4,591.90. (Reporting by Pratish Narayanan; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
