Indian financial markets closed Tues for Christmas

MUMBAI, Dec 25 (Reuters) - Indian financial markets are closed on Tuesday for the Christmas holiday.

Trading resumes on Wednesday.

The benchmark 30-share BSE index rose 3.61 percent on Monday to 19,854.12, led by ICICI Bank (ICBK.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Infosys Technologies Ltd (INFY.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

The partially convertible rupee <INR=IN> ended at 39.45/46 per dollar, stronger from the previous close of 39.54/55.

The yield on the federal 10-year bond <IN079917G=CC> ended at 7.86 percent, a tad lower from Thursday's close of 7.87 percent, while overnight cash rates <INROND=> ended at 8.0-8.25 percent, compared with 4.0-4.25 percent at close on Thursday.
