ALMATY, April 21 (Reuters) - BTA BTAS.KZ, one of Kazakhstan's largest banks, has repaid a $100 million bond at the request of its holder and issued a new one for the same value, the bank said on Monday.

Kazakh banks had not issued Eurobonds due to a global liquidity squeeze until last month when Halyk (HSBKq.L) tested the market with a $500 million transaction.

Sadyr Shaguzhayev, Director of Financial Institutions at BTA, said his bank had to repay a bond issued two years ago on April 10.

"The holder (of the redeemed bond) had a put option," Shaguzhayev told Reuters.

The same day BTA raised $100 million by selling a new bond, he said. Barclays managed the issue. (Writing by Olzhas Auyezov; Editing by Erica Billingham)
