UPDATE 1-Zurich enters Islamic insurance JV in Abu Dhabi

ZURICH, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Swiss insurance company Zurich Financial Services AG (ZURN.VX) said on Monday it had entered a joint venture with an Abu Dhabi-based partner to offer Islamic insurance coverage, known as 'takaful'.

Zurich said it would control 51 percent of the venture, while the remaining 49 percent would go to Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company.

Abu Dhabi National Takaful Company was formed in Nov 2003 as the first takaful operator in the emirates.
