MADRID, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Santander (SAN.MC) said on Thursday that it has offered a 4 billion euro ($5.42 billion) credit line for its best self-employed clients and small and medium-sized businesses to finance their activity in 2009.

The credit line will provide these clients with immediate funding needs as well as medium-term financing for investment projects at a time when liquidity is tight due to the credit crisis, Spain's biggest bank said in a statement.
