LONDON, July 13 (Reuters) - Belgian-French financial services group Dexia (DEXI.BR) has shut its London-based syndicated loan unit, a spokesperson told Thomson Reuters LPC on Monday.

"Dexia will stop syndication operations out of London. Under current circumstances full-time teams based in London are not necessary. But the company will still operate in that business and will define its syndication team organisation during (the) fall," a spokesman told Reuters.

Colin Holdsworth, Andrew Powderly and Peter Stiles have left the London-based loans syndication team, a banker familiar with the situation said.

Dexia's London-based loan syndication team had a global remit, according to one banker. (Reporting by Zaida Espana; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
