Ashmore to build $600 mln power plant in Guatemala
GUATEMALA CITY, May 6 (Reuters) - A subsidiary of Ashmore Energy International Ltd. (ASHM.L) said on Tuesday it has won a tender to build a $600 million coal-fueled power plant in Guatemala.
The subsidiary, Jaguar Energy, said the plant will generate 275 megawatts annually and help reduce an electricity shortage expected in Guatemala within a few years.
Jaguar Energy said in a news release it would sell electricity to distributors owned by Spain's Union Fenosa. (Reporting by Herbert Hernandez; Editing by Christian Wiessner)
