Goldman invests in multifamily lender Bulls Capital
NEW YORK, June 12 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs (GS.N) said on Thursday it invested in Bulls Capital Partners, a lender specializing in multifamily loans that is approved for Fannie Mae's (FNM.N) automated underwriting system.
Goldman, without disclosing specific terms, said it took a minority interest and that Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital will source loans to Bulls Capital Partners.
Bulls Capital Partners is a joint venture of Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital L.P. and Bulls Multifamily, LLC, a minority-controlled firm headed by CEO Herman Bulls.
"Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital's involvement in Bulls Capital Partners signals an expansion of our business at a time of great opportunity for the Fannie Mae execution," Bulls said in a press release.
Mark Van Kirk, co-founder and chief operating officer of Bulls Capital Partners, was previously director of counterparty risk at Fannie Mae, the largest U.S. home funding source, according to the statement. (Reporting by Lynn Adler; Editing by Dan Grebler)
