Mexico stocks fall sharply on U.S. economy worries

MEXICO CITY, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks sank on Thursday on worries about recession in the United States heightened by fears about the viability of U.S. auto makers and a report showing U.S. jobless claims hit a 16-year high.

The benchmark IPC stock index .MXX fell 1.52 percent to 18,296 in opening trade. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle; Editing by James Dalgleish)
