Sarkozy still dissatisfied with SocGen chairman

PARIS, April 24 (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Thursday that he remained unhappy with aspects of the management of Daniel Bouton, the chairman of French bank Societe Generale (SOGN.PA: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) that has been hit by a rogue trading scandal.

Asked during a live prime time television interview whether he was unhappy that Bouton had not resigned over SocGen's trading debacle, Sarkozy replied that there were elements of the affair that "troubled him".

"I think that, in general, managers should assume their responsibility," he said.

Sarkozy has consistently criticised Bouton since SocGen unveiled in January 4.9 billion euros ($7.7 billion) of losses which it said were caused by rogue deals by one of its traders.

Despite the criticism, Bouton has remained chairman of the bank although he has handed over his chief executive role to Frederic Oudea.
