SEOUL, June 2 (Reuters) - Seoul shares opened easier on Monday, with underlying strength in oil prices and weak U.S. consumer confidence depressing market sentiment.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index was down 0.42 percent to 1,843.98 points as of 0002 GMT.
