SEOUL, July 14 (Reuters) - Seoul shares ended higher after volatile trade on Tuesday, with gains led by banks and steel issues including POSCO (005490.KS), but markets trimmed earlier 1.7 percent gains as shipbuilders and OCI (010060.KS) retreated.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) finished up 0.54 percent at 1,385.56 points.
