China's Haitong Securities says H1 net up 22 pct

SHANGHAI, July 14 (Reuters) - Haitong Securities Co Ltd (600837.SS), a major Chinese brokerage, said on Tuesday that its net profit for the first half of the year rose 22 percent from a year earlier to 2.5 billion yuan ($365.9 million), as the stock market revived.

Income rose 2 percent to 4.1 billion yuan, Haitong said, releasing a brief, preliminary earnings report with unaudited figures. It is expected to publish a full, audited report for the first half of 2009 in a few weeks.

The Shanghai Composite Index .SSEC has jumped nearly 70 percent this year so far to 3,080.556 points. ($1=6.832 Yuan) (Reporting by Rujun Shen and Jacqueline Wong; Editing by Jonathan Hopfner)
