Tokyo bourse orders Lehman Japan to halt trading
TOKYO, Sept 16 (Reuters) - The Tokyo Stock Exchange on Tuesday ordered the Japan unit of investment bank Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc LEH.N to halt securities and derivatives trading activities after its U.S. parent filed for bankruptcy protection.
Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection on Monday, becoming the largest and highest-profile casualty of the global credit crisis. [ID:nN13574113]
The Tokyo bourse's move came a day after the country's financial regulator ordered Lehman Brothers Japan Inc to halt operations, except for carrying out existing contracts or returning assets to customers for 12 days until Sept. 26.
