BZ WBK H1 net falls by a third on bad loans
WARSAW, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Poland's No.3 bank BZ WBK BZWB.WA posted a bigger-than-expected 33-percent net profit drop in the first half as it took more bad loan provisions and its interest income fell due to cuthroat fight for deposits.
BZ WBK, a unit of troubled Allied Irish Banks (ALBK.I), earned 377 million zlotys in the first half. Based on Reuters calculations, second-quarter net profit reached some 258 million versus an average forecast of 162 million in a Reuters poll.
The bank did not provide second-quarter figures. (Reporting by Chris Borowski)
