(Corrects Q2 EBITDA to 39 million zlotys from 64 million in paragraph four)

WARSAW, July 13 (Reuters) - The head of Empik NFIWo.WA denied a newspaper report on Monday that the Polish retailer was having a difficulty with payments to suppliers and said he saw second-quarter results in line with year-ago figures.

"In the second quarter we expect the net profit and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxation, deprectiation, and amortization) at a similar level to a year ago," Chief Executive Maciej Dyjas told Reuters.

"We do not have any problems with the balance sheet or payments."

In the second quarter of last year, Empik's EBITDA stood at 39 million zlotys ($12.4 million) and the net profit at 18 million. (Reporting by Maciej Onoszko, writing by Patryk Wasilewski) ($1 = 3.153 zloty)
