Sino-Forest selling $300 mln conv. notes- term sheet

HONG KONG, July 17 (Reuters) - Sino-Forest Corp (TRE.TO), a Canadian forestry firm with operations in China, was selling $300 million worth of five-year convertible senior unsecured notes yielding 4.75 percent to 5.25 percent, according to a term sheet.

The notes carry a conversion premium of 32.5 percent to 37.5 percent and the offering can be expanded through a greenshoe option to $345 million.

Merrill Lynch MER.N is the sole bookrunner, and Credit Suisse (CSGN.VX) is co-manager of the offering. (Reporting by Tony Munroe)
