Australia's Gunns says in talks on new mill finance
SYDNEY, July 3 (Reuters) - Australian forestry firm Gunns Ltd (GNS.AX) is in talks for new financing for its planned pulp mill in Tasmania state, the firm said on Thursday, about a month after its own banker declined to fund the controversial project. "The company continues to receive strong international interest in relation to the financing of the Bell Bay mill and all approvals required for the project remain on track," Gunns Executive Chairman John Gay said in a statement.
At the end of May, ANZ Bank (ANZ.AX) said it would not participate in project finance for the mill, which is hotly opposed by environmentalists. (Reporting by Mark Bendeich)
