WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - Generic drugmaker Lannett Co (LCI.A: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) on Thursday said it is working with U.S. regulators to ensure a safe supply of the heart failure drug digoxin, following a recall of another version of the drug.

The Food and Drug Administration late last month announced the recall of the Digitek brand of digoxin, sold by Actavis Totowa and distributed by Mylan (MYL.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

Lannett said it has secured additional active ingredients to meet U.S. demand.

The FDA said the Digitek tablets may contain twice the amount of the active ingredient, which could put patients at risk, including the possibility of death. (Reporting by Kim Dixon, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
