EU agency backs Abilify for severe manic episodes
LONDON, Feb 21 (Reuters) - The European Medicines Agency has recommended Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY.N) and Otsuka Pharmaceuticals Co's Abilify to treat moderate to severe manic episodes for people with bi-polar disorder, the London-based watchdog said on Thursday.
Recommendations for marketing approval by the agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) are normally endorsed by the European Commission within a couple of months. Abilify is currently approved for treating schizophrenia. (Reporting by Michael Kahn, Editing by Rory Channing)
