MADRID, July 8 (Reuters) - Spanish savings banks Caixa Galicia and Caixanova said on Wednesday they were negotiating with building company Sacyr Vallehermoso (SVO.MC) to buy part of its share of toll road business Itinere (ITIE.MC).

But no agreement has been reached yet, said spokesmen for both banks, responding to a report in newspaper El Economista that Sacyr has reached a preliminary deal to sell 16 percent of Itinere for 400 million euros ($559.1 million).

A spokesman for Sacyr, which has 27.4 percent of Itinere, made no comment. At 1037 GMT, Sacyr shares were down 0.93 percent at 9.57 euros, roughly in line with the broader Spanish market. ($1=.7154 Euro) (Reporting by Clara Vilar; Editing by Hans Peters)
