BEIJING, Nov 26 (Reuters) - The weak dollar poses a serious danger for Airbus (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), Louis Gallois, the chief executive of the plane maker, said on Monday.

Airbus sells its planes in dollars but close to half of its costs are in euros. The single European currency scaled a record peak against the dollar last week.

"It is a vital danger, which means it is eating the margins of the company, but it is not an immediate one," Gallois told Reuters.

With aircraft demand soaring, he said the problem was not one of jobs. But the strength of the euro could lead to massive further outsourcing if it was not reined in.

Last week the head of Airbus parent EADS, Tom Enders, said the weak dollar posed an existential threat to the plane maker.

Gallois, who is accompanying French President Nicolas Sarkozy on a state visit to China, declined to comment on speculation that China would sign a deal to buy as many as 150 Airbus aircraft.

"Wait a while. You will see," he said. (Reporting by Tim Hepher; Writing by Alan Wheatley; Editing by Edmund Klamann)
