May 13 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2000 GMT on Tuesday.

** Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) unveiled a $12.6 billion deal to buy Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), and posted better-than-expected quarterly results. [nN13363658] [nN13370273]

** Finmeccanica SpA (SIFI.MI: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) has agreed to buy U.S. military contractor DRS Technologies Inc (DRS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) in a $5.2 billion deal, the biggest so far in European defence contractors' bid for a slice of the growing U.S. defence market. ** The parties in the dispute over financing the $20 billion Clear Channel Communications Inc (CCU.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) buyout on Tuesday reached an agreement in principle on settling the case and striking a new deal at a lower price of $36 a share, a source familiar with the situation said. ** Emirates Telecommunications Corp ETEL.AD may compete with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim and Russia's Altimo for a $1 billion stake in India's Tata Teleservices Ltd., al-Khaleej newspaper reported. [nL13513911]

** Corporate Express (CXP.AS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said it was willing to talk to U.S. office supplies retailer Staples Inc (SPLS.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) after it raised its offer for the Dutch business products wholesaler. [nN13344533]
