July 14 (Reuters) - Bombardier Transportation, the Berlin-based unit of Bombardier Inc (BBDb.TO), said it received a $255 million contract from the city of Phoenix to supply, operate and maintain a Bombardier Innovia automated people mover system at Phoenix airport.

The contract value consists of the design-build contract valued at $186 million, while in a separate contract valued at about $69 million, Bombardier will provide maintenance and operation services for 10 years.

"This is the largest new-start APM project in North America in a decade," the company said in a statement.
