JAKARTA, May 14 (Reuters) - Indonesia's domestic cement sales growth jumped 28.2 percent in April from a year ago to 3.08 million tonnes, industry data obtained by Reuters on Wednesday showed.

The data showed sales at the country's largest cement maker, PT Semen Gresik Tbk (SMGR.JK), rose 20.6 percent to 1.39 million tonnes.

The April sales took year-to-date domestic cement sales to 11.9 million tonnes, up nearly a fifth from a year ago.

Gresik's sales were slower compared to its two main rivals, PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk (INTP.JK) and PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk (SMCB.JK), which recorded 41.3 percent and 36.4 percent increases in domestic sales last month, respectively.

State-owned Gresik saw its market share improve to 45.3 percent from 43.9 percent in March, although the share was down from 48.1 percent in April, 2007.

Analysts expect demand for cement to remain strong with the government pressing for construction of some key infrastructure projects to boost economic growth. (Reporting by Harry Suhartono, editing by Ed Davies)
